More Cows Please

I was talking to Julia about getting another milk cow for the farm, and she sounded positive about the idea. Honoria on the other hand (who was eavesdropping) was downright excited, "I want another milk cow! A daddy one!"

The Rivalry, Cookies vs Watermelon

Juila said, "I don't know which is better, cookies or watermelon." After a long pause and much deliberation she concluded, "I think it's watermelon."

Game over, cookies.

Cat fight

I noticed a scratch on Honoria the other day and when I asked her what happened she said, "It was either a cat or a boy."

Translating Honoria

"More green olives" - May I please watch another Speedy Gonzalez cartoon?

"I hold you" - Would you please pick me up?

Straw Philosophy

Julia says, "The thing I like about straws is they don't let me get a mess on my face."

Daddy's princess

Honoria was feeling really snuggly the other day while I was holding her on my lap. I hugged her and said, "You're my little girl." Feeling like she needed to say something similar back to me, she looked at me and responded, "And you can be my princess!". Then she gave me a big kiss.

Hard to say no to that, I guess.

Yohan the ninja

The kids were playing out in their snow fort and later in the day I asked Dahlia about it. She told me they were pretending to be from Japan. She said "Anthony is Yohan, Joey is Louie, and I am Emily."

I like butter and butter

We were watching some home videos the other night and we all had a good laugh at Dahlia when she was 2. In the video I came into the kitchen and found Dahlia eating butter.

Me:       "Dahlia! What are you doing? How much butter did you eat?"
Dahlia:  "Five butter."

Who knows how much five butter is, but she didn't hesitate to say it.

Ears have feelings too.

The fire alarms went off the other day as Honoria was taking a nap. Mindy went up to get her and sure enough she was pretty scared of the rude awakening.

H: That scared MEEEE!
M: Yes, honey I'm sorry.
H: That SCARE MEEEE!
M: I know, it's over now.
H: That scared my EAR!

Ice Crabbin'

I took Julia ice fishing for her Birthday (yes she really wanted to do this) and it was pretty fun. At one point while we were in the portable ice shack we had this conversation:

Julia: What is that noise out there?
Me: That would be a woodpecker.
Julia: Oh, I thought it was a crab coming closer to our shanty.
